The 9502C‑S34‑T‑M Snap Caps feature a 1.0 mm thick silicone/PTFE septa with a Y‑shape pre‑slit design that increases the needle strike area, allowing easier alignment and reduced penetration resistance. The thicker septa construction also provides improved sealing compared to many standard pre‑slit designs.

Pre‑slit septa are commonly recommended for Waters® Alliance and Acquity systems, where consistent needle entry is critical. While the Y‑slit enhances penetration and targeting, it provides slightly reduced resealing compared to non‑slit septa. Because the caps are more pliable, they may not seal as tightly as rigid caps and are best used with low‑volatility solvents.
